The Story Behind Lhasa Rose 1924

Lhasa Rose 1924 draws inspiration from the remarkable journey of Alexandra David-Neel, a French explorer and spiritualist. In 1924, she disguised herself as a beggar to enter Lhasa, the forbidden city of Tibet, at a time when women were not allowed inside. Her courage and determination broke barriers and opened a window into a world few outsiders had seen.

Hima Jomo’s perfume honors this journey by weaving together the essence of the region’s natural beauty and the spirit of those who live there. The fragrance captures the delicate yet resilient nature of the rose, a flower that thrives in the harsh climates of the Himalayas, symbolizing strength and grace.

The Vernissage in Le Marais

The vernissage was held in Hima Jomo’s new boutique, a space that reflects the brand’s dedication to storytelling through scent and visuals. Upon entering, visitors were greeted by a carefully curated photo exhibition, Bloom at Altitude, featuring striking images of women from Nepal and Tibet. These photographs were taken by a renowned photographer Luo Yang who traveled to the region alongside one of the founders of the brand.

Each photograph tells a story of resilience, culture, and connection to the land, inviting guests to experience the perfume not just as a fragrance but as a journey through time and place.

Crafting the Scent of Lhasa Rose 1924

Creating a perfume that tells such a rich story requires careful selection of ingredients and a deep understanding of the region’s natural elements. Lhasa Rose 1924 features notes that evoke the Himalayan landscape:

  • Rose petals

  • Sandalwood

  • Hints of Tibetan incense

  • Subtle musk

  • Touch of Oud

These components come together to create a scent that is both fresh and earthy, delicate yet bold.

How Hima Jomo Connects Fragrance and Storytelling

Hima Jomo’s approach to perfume goes beyond traditional fragrance creation. Each scent is a narrative, a way to explore history, geography, and human experience. Lhasa Rose 1924 exemplifies this philosophy by linking a perfume to a specific time, place, and person.

Wearing Lhasa Rose 1924 becomes an act of connection to the Himalayan region and the spirit of adventure embodied by Alexandra David-Neel - providing a sense of empowerment.
